💙 Alzheimer's Awareness Month Recap 💙

The month of January marked Alzheimer's Awareness Month in Canada, a cause close to our hearts at NOVA West Island. We recognize the profound impact that Alzheimer's and dementia have on individuals, their caregivers, and families within our community.

💙 Our Commitment: In honor of those affected, NOVA West Island is committed to raising awareness about Alzheimer's and dementia. We believe in a person-centered approach, ensuring that all West Island residents living with dementia feel valued and empowered. Our goal is to foster inclusivity, accessibility, and societal changes to enhance the lives of those affected.

🧠 Beyond January: While Alzheimer's Awareness Month officially ends in January, the experiences of individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia persist. We invite you to join us in extending awareness beyond the month. Share your newfound knowledge with friends, family, and colleagues to contribute to reducing stigma and fostering understanding.

🤝 How You Can Support:

  1. Connect: Explore local Alzheimer Societies and learn how you can get involved.

  2. Combat Stigma: Actively engage in reducing and eliminating stigma against people living with dementia.

  3. Lived Experiences: Read the impactful stories of individuals with firsthand experiences to better understand the impact of stigma.

  4. Share Your Story: If you've encountered stigma related to dementia, share your story to amplify awareness.

  5. Support Initiatives: Join initiatives aimed at raising awareness about Alzheimer's and dementia.

💙 Together, We Make a Difference: With understanding, care, and collective efforts, we can create a supportive and compassionate community for those living with dementia. Thank you for being part of this vital awareness initiative.
